Abstract

Nowadays data transmission over a long communication network is the basic need of industry. For sending signals over larger length optical fibers are often used because of high bandwidth, high bit rate, and low security risk. Inspite of having so many advantages at high bit rate and larger distance, Optical fibers are suffering with the major problem popularly known as dispersion. In order to achieve desired outcomes dispersion need to be compensated first. There are many techniques through which dispersion can be compensated. Fiber Braggs Grating is broadly used technique for compensation of dispersion. Here in this paper we are comparing different modulation formats i.e. Non-return-to zero and Return-to-zero, in pre and post configuration by using two different types of FBGs i.e. ideal dispersion compensation FBG and Uniform FBG. Comparison is made on the basis of Q-factor at different input power levels using optisystem 7.0 at a bit rate of 40Gbps for 60Km.
