Biological and psychosocial risk factors were described in the individual, family and social order, such as early initiation of sexual relations, early sexual maturation, low academic level, inadequate sexual education, unemployment, poor family planning skills, loss of significant family figures, stress, crime, alcoholism and predominance of romantic love, among others. In addition, some consequences were described for both the mother and her child, such as haemorrhage, prolonged labor, maternal and perinatal death. Conclusions: pregnancy during adolescence was considered a worldwide concern, with repercussions also on the quality of life of the family and community.
