Abstract
Vessel fuel consumption has emerged as one of the keycontributors to environmental deterioration and rising operationalcost to the maritime industry. In practice, fuel efficiency can beachieved by design or operational approaches in newly designed orin-service vessels. In this paper, multiple linear regression (MLR)method is used to construct the fuel efficiency profile of workingtugboats. Performance curves are derived to analyze and monitor heperformance of on-cruising vessel. A Fuel Consumption AnalysisSystem is developed for vessel operators to monitor fuelconsumption in real-time and operate the vessel at economy speedfor optimum fuel efficiency. Practicality and usability of the softwareare demonstrated using two sets of real operational data for a vesselin ballast and laden voyages. The proposed system has been verifiedusing historical operational data revealing that up to 37.1% fuelsaving can be achieved.
