Abstract

Energy consumption at household sectors various widely not only among the rural and urban areas, but also across various income classes. Govt. of India has come out with a host of conservation and management policy frame work in respect of house hold energy. Energy scarcity and power shortage are the major problem in present condition of Tamil Nadu State and overall nation. But the mean time wastage of power in terms of using out dated technologies and other ways will result in negative to the energy conservation and nation's economy as a whole. India is a nation consists of more than three fourth as a rural segment. The present attempt is carried to study the rural lighting and scope for energy conservations in select two villages of Dindigul district. It found that CFLs or TCLs lights use for domestic consumption and other purposes will helps to reduce the wastage of energy. It suggests reducing the unwanted power consumption and wastage of power to eradicate power scarcity environment. Further it open up new area for researches to conduct research to reduce the power consumption and energy conservation for sustainable development of the nation
