Abstract
In this paper, performance enhancement and emissions reduction of dual blend of soybean and rapeseed biodiesel were calculated and reading compared with diesel fuel experimentally. Four kind of biodiesel fuels were employed: SME (soybean methyl ester 100 % by volume), RME (rapeseed methyl ester 100% by volume), B55 (SME50%, RME-50%) and B82 (SME-80%, RME-20%) and diesel. Four stroke natural aspirated , water cooled, Kirlosker engine was used to perform the tests under five different engine load(0%, 25%, 50%, 75 % and 100%).Specific fuel consumption ,brake power, exhaust emissions were recorded during experiments to investigate the assembled data. Results revealed that dual blend B82 shows maximum reduction of about 62% in un burnt hydrocarbon (HC) and 12% reduction in carbon monoxide at 50% load condition. The CO2 emissions accounted higher but CO (carbon monoxide) emissions reading to be lower than diesel. It was observed that NOx emission were higher at pure biodiesel (SME and RME) operation compared with neat diesel operation and it was countered by introduction of dual biodiesel blending which resulted in 36% reduction at 50% load condition in NOx emission.
