Abstract

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to determine mothers' knowledge and fever management in their children. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 300 mothers who had 0-6 years old children randomly and voluntarily participated to study. In order to reveal the knowledge and experiences of mothers about high fever in children, a questionnaire form was used by the researchers. Data were analyzed as percentage values. Assuming that mothers' knowledge, practice and competency of fever would change when their maternal experiences would increase, the results were compared according to maternal experiences (having one child or more child). RESULTS: Mothers indicated that it was important to decrease child's fever to prevent from brain damage, small number of the mothers were had the information from health professionals, had warm shower when their children had fever, they were anxious and competent to reduce the fever. CONCLUSION: The fever knowledge, and fever management of mothers' of only child and more child were similar.
