Abstract

Nowadays, various functional food sources are being investigated in order to increase diseases due to changing living conditions, nutritional defiency, malnutrition and lack of protein. In some countries, due to both the traditional tendency and the growing population insects are consumed as food in order to assessment of food sources and to use them effectively. Honey bees also take part in this class, and the very valuable bee products they produce have a protective effect on intended health of human. As a result of the researches, it has been revealed that drone larvae (apilarnil) and queen bee larvae can be consumed for health protection and medical treatment support purposes due to high nutrient transportations. When it is anticipated that both queen bee and drone larvae will be consumed as food and the use of in apitherapy will become widespread, the awareness of the health of these bee products must be increased in society. The increase in demand for the use of the products at this point is also on the agenda for the continuous and reliable production of such products. For this purpose, it is very important to know biochemical properties and apitherapeutic effects of queen bee and drone larvaes first. Drone and queen larvae play a complementary role in the medical treatment of various health problems, such as energizing the body, regenerating the cell, regulating the reproductive physiology, and treating neurodegenerative disorders. In order to protect health of human and to provide support in the treatment of diseases, these natural products can be produced in high quality and sustainable beekeeping, and the apitherapeutic effects should be determined by clinical scientific researches and disseminated. Queen bee and drone larvae production will allow beekeepers to focus on producing new bee products other than honey, reducing the risk of production during the production period and making regular high income.
