Abstract
ABSTRACT Turbulent length scales are presented for a compressible subsonic boundary layer including the Kolmogorov, Taylor and Integral length scales. The scales have been determined directly from experimental analysis of the boundary layer characteristics using a single hot-wire probe, corrected for temperature, in a purpose built flow facility. It was found that care must be taken when determining these length scales using dissipation values, but typically the Kolmogorov length scales ranged from 8 – 12 ?m, the Taylor scales from 80 – 380 ?m and the Integral scales between 0.8 – 4.0 mm.
