Abstract

Abstract. Modern social conditions impose special requirements for the formation of a system of personal values. The aim of the study was to assess the features of value orientations of 6th year students of the medical faculty of Ryazan state medical University by The method of "Value orientations" M. Rokich, who distinguished two classes of values: terminal and instrumental. This division corresponds to the traditional division into values-goals and values-means. The survey involved 60 students of 6 course of medical faculty at the age of 22 to 25 years. As a result of research it is established that for medical students the health, happy family life, love, lack of financial difficulties, interesting work, development and active life became the most significant terminal values. The respondents showed an indifferent attitude to the presence of good and faithful friends, knowledge, freedom, public recognition, productive life and life wisdom. The happiness of others occupies the lowest position in the hierarchy of terminal values. The leading places in the list of instrumental values were taken by honesty, education, cheerfulness, responsibility, good breeding, independence and breadth of views. Indifferent attitude of the survey participants to accuracy, efficiency in business, rationalism, strong will, self-control and courage in defending their opinions and views. High demands and intransigence to the shortcomings in themselves and others close the list of instrumental values. In General, students of Ryazan state University have a system of professional values. At the same time, more than half of the values are in a state of internal conflict. The findings indicate the need to pay more attention to professional ethics in the educational process.
