Abstract

The concept of alienation is one of the basic concepts that philosophers and scholars argue and collaborate on it. This concept is discussed and evaluated from different perspectives in the history of thought. Plato evaluates the concept of alienation from the different dimensions in his dialogues. Alienation takes place in its philosophy of existence, knowledge and value. As a result, Plato emphasizes that how people are alienated from himself, God, universe, human, society as ontological, epistemelogi-cal, axiological position and the political life (polis). In Plato's philosophy, the con-cept of alienation is related to the basic problems of philosophy. The aim of this ar-ticle is to assert and argue that the idea of alienation, which stems from the transi-tion to rational thought is also present in the philosophy of Plato. In this article, Pla-to's approach to the concept and problem of alienation is tried to be revealed and examined in terms of ontological, epistemological and axiological areas as philo-sophy of religion and political philosophy. Ethics and Aesthetics fields are excluded from the scope of this article's limitations as the subject of another study.
