Abstract
The article deals with the features of the formation, changes in the ecosystem as a result of human economic activity, measures for the conservation of biological diversity and the problems of protection of relic peat bogs in the floodplain of the middle reaches of the Lepsy River as a unique natural monument. The plant communities, chemical composition of the soil, causes of spontaneous combustion, importance of protecting the natural monument were studied.
