Abstract
Terrorism is an old concept in political literature. Although this concept is related to a long time ago, it has become universally important in the first decade of the twenty-first century. Following the terrorist incident in 2001, a number of terrorist groups affiliated with the al-Qaeda group formed the September 11 attacks. Since then, terrorism has become deeply linked to religion, and Islamic groups have been identified as terrorists in global public opinion, by the effort of Western media, in which, abusing this issue, they generally accused Islam of promoting Terrorism.Today, with the expansion of the process of globalization and the development of the media and communications, it is one of the most important tools in the field of politics. Meanwhile, it has been possible for other individuals and groups to make new media (Internet and cyberspace) impact on public opinion, which has so far only been monopolized by governments. Unlike previous groups, ISIS has been well versed in utilizing existing media capabilities to achieve its goals. In the present article, it has been tried to explain the theoretical issues of media function in the information age and its link with politics, the phenomenon terrorists and the use of various media strategies to advance its objectives in the Middle East.
