Organization of archival affairs at research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

The study is devoted to the research of the current state of the archival system of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in particular, the study of departmental archives, their status, interrelations, functions and specifi c features of the formation and composition of archival funds. The article analyzes the key element of the academic archival system, which is the Archival Fund of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as a complex of archival funds containing documents refl ecting the activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, its contribution to the development of Ukrainian and world science, which are an important component of the National Archival Fund. The paper shows types of fund creators, taking into account their legal status and studies the system of fund holders of the Archival Fund of the NAS of Ukraine. It is shown that the archival system includes archives of scientifi c research institutions, scientifi c and technical enterprises and public organizations under the jurisdiction of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Departmental archives of institutions that preserve documents of the National Archival Fund are divided into two categories: archives with the right of permanent custody of documents and archives that keep documents temporarily, prior to transfer to permanent custody to the main Archive of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine − it is the Institute of Archival Studies of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The article also considers the characteristic features of the activity of Appraisal commissions of various levels on the assessing the value of records in institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. As a result of the analysis of the archives normative and reporting documents, the dynamics of changes in the status and functions of archival divisions of academic institutions was studied, a list of the main problems arising in the activity of archives at the present stage was determined.
