Abstract

In the article Ukrainian heraldic poetry, printed within the structure of Cyrillic editions of the end of 16th - first part of 18th century from the funds of Vernadsky National library of Ukraine, is observed. More than 60 samples of heraldic poetry, written in Old-Ukrainian literary language, are revised. These texts accompany images of family herbs of Ukrainian shlahta, powerful spiritualty, kosaks, members of Romanov family, as well as hers of Lviv Brotherhood. To the number of Ukrainian poetry not only texts, published in Ukrainian printing-houses of Ostroh, Lviv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Univ etc. were added. Due to cultural interactions there are also pieces of poetry, published in particular editions of Lithuanian (Vilnius, Vievis) and Belorussian (Kutein) printing-houses. Chosen poetical texts, depending of date of publication, are divided into three main periods of Ukrainian heraldic poetry development: 1) birth period (end of 16th - beginning of 17th century); 2) period of high development (middle of 17th century); 3) p e r iod of dimin ishm ent (end of 17th century - first part of 18th century). Some part of heraldic poetry samples, found in VNLU copies, was not mentioned in bibliography and modern publications. Collected texts are valuable material for making printed anthologies and electronic resources for presentation of Ukrainian heraldic poetry first-prints for the wide range of readers.
