Abstract
Novelty of the work emerges first of all from the research object ? written word (WW) which neither in General language science, nor in its private branches as linguistic category didn't take place. On the example of the Arabic Literary Language (further ALL) we show that the written words can be represented not only as units of letter signs and symbols, as it is traditionally considered to be, but also as other means of visual and graphic information representation. We offer the general classification of the Arabic written words as substantive, essential and accidental.
