Abstract

Professional psycho-physiological selection can significantly improve the level of training of specialists, accelerate their pace of achieving high professional skills and reduce occupational injuries and professionally caused morbidity in people working in hazardous conditions of increased danger. For sports activities, the concept of professional selection is replaced by the concept of sport selection, which is a long, multi-stage process. This selection can be effective only if at all stages of the athlete's long-term training there is a comprehensive methodology for evaluating his/her personality provided. The methodology should involve the use of various research methods (pedagogical, medico-biological, psychological, psycho-physiological and sociological, etc.). At present, the state system of professional selection is being formed in Ukraine. There is the Law of Ukraine "On Labor Protection", requiring a psycho physiological examination for people working in hazardous conditions. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Committee for Supervision of Occupational Safety approved the order rationing types of work with the required professional selection in 1994. This order determines the list of information indicators, which should be used for professional selection. However, this order does not meet the modern requirements of science because it does not include the entire list of existing types of work with a required professional selection, has a number of contradictions and inaccuracies in the list of informative indicators used for professional selection. The purpose of study is to review methodological approaches to the practical implementation of psycho-physiological selection and expertise. Modern professional psycho-physiological selection requires the appropriate methodological support, including legal documents, criteria for the professional suitability of a candidate for a particular activity, a mathematically grounded approach to the formation of an expert opinion. On the other hand, for carrying out psycho-physiological selection, we need specialized certified equipment that can provide the necessary accuracy, reliability and validity of the obtained results. Nowadays in Ukraine, there are many software complexes and apparatus software complexes designed for narrow professional tasks and not certified in the established order, used for only psycho-physiological selection in many organizations and departments. Software complexes are subject to significant influence of non-systematic errors in measuring time parameters. This error is a feature of the technical implementation of any techniques and is potentially incorrigible. Moreover, its magnitude can be significant when using personal computers (especially modern ones). The lowest possible level of error can be achieved if there is a complete apparatus formation and test stimuli presentation, registration of reaction time and its calculation. Thus, the presented analysis of modern methodological approaches to the organization of psycho-physiological and sports selection confirms the need for a clear state regulation in this area.
