Abstract
The article deals with the pragmatic potential of media texts based on news from the official sites of the customs and border services of Belarus, Russia, the UK. The communicative strategies of informing and per- suasion (through appeal and intimidation) are considered. The basic pragmatic intentions are analyzed – the in- evitability of punishment, the formation of archetypes of law and justice, persuasion and intimidation. The cate- gory of evaluation and the method of image reinforcement are considered
