Abstract
The main classical branches of the Coeliac trunk are Hepatic, Splenic and Left Gastric arteries. The present variation was observed during the abdomen dissection (classes) for the medical undergraduates on 2011 in the Department of anatomy at Sree Mookambika Institute of medical Science, Kulasekharam. I am reporting a rare variation Common Coeliaco mesenteric Trunk, where the coeliac trunk and superior Mesenteric artery arose as a common trunk from the ventral surface of the abdominal aorta at the level of L1 vertebrae. The incidence of coeliaco mesenteric trunk variation was reported to be 2.7 by parnanen and 1 by Munger and Eaton. Knowledge of variations concerning the Coeliac trunk and Superior Mesenteric artery are of great importance for both surgical approach and angiographic studies.
