Abstract
Myoepithelioma, a salivary gland tumor with cells exclusively of myoepithelial differentiation is a relatively rare benign encapsulated tumor. Myoepithelioma accounts to 1.5 percentage of all salivary gland tumors, mostly occur in parotid gland and palate, commonly affecting adults with equal sex predilection. Here, we present a case of 35 year old female, presented with painless, slow growing mass in the right preauricular region for 4 months duration for which a right superficial parotidectomy was done. Histologically the tumor showed a circumscribed neoplasm arranged in nests, cords and sheets of tumor cells predominantly clear cell type in a hyalinised stroma. The tumors cells showed strong cytoplasmic immunoexpression of Vimentin, Smooth Muscle Actin( SMA ), S -100 protein and Cytokeratin. p63 was expressed in the nuclei of tumour cells . With these histological and immunohistochemical markers, a final diagnosis of Myoepithelioma - clear cell variant of Parotid gland was made.
