Abstract
A mobile ad hoc network is a self organizing temporary network. It consists of mobile nodes roaming here and there. Routing in such networks is a challenging task. Various routing protocols have been proposed since the origin of MANETS. DSR is the most popular routing protocol based on source routing. This paper is an extensive study of DSR taking various performance parameters. Effect of these parameters on energy consumption is studied in this paper. Efficient DSR is one which gives best route with minimum energy consumption and increases network lifetime.
