Abstract

One of the major issues prevailing in Wireless Sensor Network is Network Lifetime. The lifetime of nodes depends on how long it could perform its task completely within the limited power. To obtain optimality, predictability and reliability in Wireless Sensor Network, Cluster Head selection plays a vital role. Optimal Cluster Head utilizes the limited energy in an efficient manner and hence network lifetime is maximized. Hence the work focuses on an optimal Residue Energy Based algorithm for Cluster Head Selection. In this algorithm, node with maximum residual energy and good link quality is selected as a Cluster Head in each round of transmission. To predict whether all nodes, are able to complete its task within the given lifetime requirement, energy bounds are estimated and test will be conducted to check if all nodes are within the bounds or not. The work focuses on determining optimized techniques to predict the lifetime of sensors and research on the impact of deploying high energy nodes to enhance energy conservation over the network.
