Modern Library Projects on Region Studies: the State of Realization and Prospect of Development

The paper presents results of the research conducted by the National historical library of Ukraine. The research dealt with library projects on regions study. The achievements of regional libraries in the project work are generalized and recommendations to its improvement are given. The main result of realization of such projects are new informative, educational, cultural and social library services: organization of access to full texts of regional editions and regional databases of current and retrospective information about events of regional social and political, economic and cultural life; realization of events on popularization of regional knowledge, etc. The subjects of regional projects are various: public and historical (revolutionary events, holodomor, liberating from nazi invaders), literary, cultural and art, ecological, social, tourism in regions and others like that. Actual subjects of the last years - "Our countrymen who participated in Revolution of dignity", "Library as a bridge for internally displaced persons to cultural integration in local communities". The recommendation for libraries to improve its project activity is to adhere to basic principles of management of regional aspiration projects and to optimize access to resource potential of regional projects.
