Abstract
Fungal infections of nose and sinuses are on rise these days due to increasing incidence of diabetes and Infectious disease like HIV which compromise host immunity. In India the incidence of fungal sinusitis is on rise even in immunocompetent person. Aspergillus species is the common saprophytic fungus of the upper respiratory tract. Bacterial sinusitis can trigger its growth and proliferation. Aspergillus fumigatus and flavus are the common species involved in paranasal sinus aspergillosis. They commonly involve maxillary sinus. Mycotic diseases of the paranasal sinuses range from an indolent infection in an otherwise normal person, to a lethal fulminant infection in an immunocompromised individual, reflecting the interaction between host and aetiological agent. Here we discuss an unusual presentation of chronic invasive granulomatous fungal sinusitis presenting as nasal and nasopharyngeal mass which was managed with endoscopic excision of the mass.
