Abstract
Suprascapular nerve entrapment is due to the traction exerted on the suprascapular nerve leading to its compression against the superior transverse scapular ligament. Morphometric study of suprascapular notch was done in 50 scapulae from the Institute of Anatomy, Madras Medical College, Chennai. Suprascapular notch is classified based on its gross shape into U, V, and J shaped, blunted notch and foramen. Based on its vertical and transverse diameters suprascapular notch is classified into five types without discrete notch, longer transverse diameter, longer vertical diameter, foramen and with notch foramen. In the present study, the results were U shaped notch 48 percent, J shaped notch 28 percent,V shaped notch 4percent, blunted notch 12 percent, foramen 4 percent and partially ossified 4 percent. In the present study, type II was the most common comprising about 48 present.
