Abstract

In article analyzes the scientific and source base of the topic under study. The peculiarities of functioning of political parties of Ukraine are determined. The presence of political parties is a sign of the high development of society and the presence of civil culture and tolerance in it. In the context of universal suffrage, they are the main mechanism of political participation of citizens. It is the parties that formulate national interests and embody them. Considering the functions of Ukrainian political parties, it is necessary to distinguish between the main functions and the latent (latent) ways in which the parties work in favor of the system of democracy, its creation, effective functioning and development. In political parties, future legislators and executives are demonstrating their political and organizational capabilities, testing their potential for work in government. At the current stage of Ukraine's development, the question is raised about the formation of favorable legal and political conditions necessary for the creation of a fully-fledged democratic society. An important role in this process is played by political parties that form the basis of the political system of most developed countries of the world. Political parties serve democracy if they reach compromises in which the interests of different groups are taken into account as widely as possible. One of the most important functions that parties can play in a democracy is the upbringing of public opinion. Political parties are an essential, sometimes decisive element of the political system. They reflect the interests, needs and goals of certain social groups, act as mediators between citizens and the political system and act as a political tool in the formation and use of state-political power. Parties perform this function by debating the essence of the problems that need to be resolved and defining a possible course for their solution. Political parties promote the legitimacy of a democratic political system, that is, its public recognition and justification of political decisions taken within its framework, personnel or functional changes in the structures of power. The directions concerning improvement of functions of political parties and their influence on realization of the state policy are determined.
