Abstract
Technology has proven in recent times to hold alternative pathways for responsive education. The continuous rise of educational technology in the educational landscape and the increasing recognition of its potential to improve the overall educational experience is a driving force in the academic milieu. With ample evidence from interviews, group discussions and questionnaires, this paper theorises social media as a learning platform within the framework of educational technology in the Cameroonian higher education system. Findings from this paper articulate social media as a pathway for continuous knowledge. With the current socio-political upheavals in Cameroon, social media has proven to be a vital technological tool for both information and disinformation. With schools increasingly becoming inaccessible in certain areas as a result of armed conflicts, social media is a readily available and free learning platform in Cameroonian higher education.
