Abstract
ABSTRACT
Over time, humanity has to face a series of natural disasters, both in developed and developing countries. Addressing mass disasters requires multidisciplinary approach and multi-disciplinary cooperation. Among these, the role of nurses, who can, under particularly critical and adverse conditions, contribute to disease prevention, provision of care, treatment, psychological support and patient education. The purpose of the study was to present the main natural disasters affecting humanity and their consequences and the role of nurses in their effective management. The nurse's role as a member of a multidisciplinary disaster management group is very important. Initial education and continuous training of nurses, based on relevant scientific studies, can improve the health services provided to help humanity during natural disasters.
