Abstract
Retail losses had shrouded the corporate retail stores success. A study on retail store management and its success found that retail stores that were able to control shrinkage and attrition in the medium term, had synergic advantage and were more successful even during difficult times. However, it was found that resource allocation for the control of attrition and shrinkage at the store level is challenges due to resource allocation paradox. A retail store manager has the challenge of choosing either frequent auditing to reduce shrinkage or improving customer service and engagement. The research suggests that the store manager should focus on customer service and instead of shrinkage. This strategy however should be supplemented first by a focus on reducing attrition through conversion of part time employees into full time employees instead of direct recruitment
