Abstract
Additive manufacturing is a promising technology that would replace most of the other processes in future. Metal additive manufacturing is using fusion-based/binder based methods but are relatively expensive. The current research employs frictionsurfacing process as a novel solid-state metal additive manufacturing process producing multi-layered product. The deposited layers are investigated for their metallurgical and mechanical properties. The metallurgical investigations reveal that there is a proper consolidation of material in each layer and the bonding between them is also found to be excellent. The mechanical properties reveal that the hardness of the deposited layers is higher than the substrate.
