Analysis of Environmental Management Company acting on the State of Pernambuco-Brazil

This paper presents an analysis of environmental management of companies operating in the state of Pernambuco, considering the concepts and models for adoption of practices that lead to eco-efficiency as a way of estimating the legacy for future generations. Data were collected with the application of a quantitative survey, completed by the managers of the companies selected for sampling. There is recognition that it's necessary a change in the conduct of business by legal force, to protect the image of the company to respond to the demands of society, in order to enable growth economic and environmental protection, but actions taken as a main point gain legal compliance, still showing up they are at early stage on track towards sustainable local development. The results showed the adoption of environmental management practices that consider employee participation as key to improving their performance, recognize the importance of environmental education and give focus to the management of waste and consumption of natural resources like water and energy.
