Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the fundamental and strategic objectives of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yemen, in particular after the invasion of Saudi Arabia. The dominant suspicion among the Western and Arab countries is that they interpret the regional goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the so-called Islamic awakening in the Middle East - specifically in Yemen – from an aggressive point of view and they deem reducing their influence as Iran's purpose. However, the authors of the present paper believe that the strategic presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yemen is a strategic active defense of the country's national interests. Therefore, to prove the hypothesis, we will use two components of realism and geopolitics to explain the strategic presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yemen. Considering the growing threats and the continued intensification of these threats in the region that somehow targeted Iran's fundamental and strategic goals, they see the presence in Yemen as a mean to maintain regional alliances, geopolitical code and the strategic depth of the country. The research findings indicate that the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Yemen is in order to maintain regional influence and control over the Strait of Bab al-Mandab in order to maintain the continuous flow of energy exports. The approach of this research is descriptive and analytical, and library research is used as the data collection method.
