Abstract
The author considers the history of establishment and contemporary state of “Bosra” museum and archaeological site in Syria. Syria has a vast archaeological heritage with a significance not only for the country, but also for the world in general. This has resulted in the fact that local archaeological museums feature various types and forms, including open-air museums. The most significant of these museums is the museum in Bosra. It is characterized by a number of particular features in terms of the preservation of archaeological artifacts, the history of which dates back to various civilizations. This territory was continuously populated starting from the Bronze Age until the end of the Islamic period. The archaeological monument and museum represent a single entity and complement each other. The author analyzes the issues and prospects of its development, and the means of becoming an example for other museums and archaeological sites of Syria.
