Abstract

Prematurity is a risk factor for delayed development of neurocognitive functions in children, which manifests from birth. Every year in the world many children are born preterm. Thus, the problem of formation of neurocognitive functions in such children is an important area of research. The article presents the results of an empirical study devoted to the analysis of the odds ratio of risk of atypical development of premature infants aged 3, 5, 10, 14 and 25 months by corrected age. Bayley Scale of Infant Development, 3d Edition (Bayley-III) was used as a diagnostic technique, with the help of which it is possible to assess the level of cognitive, communicative and motor development. Based on the findings, it was concluded that prematurity as a risk factor in development has the greatest impact in the age of one year. In addition, early birth selectively affects the formation of neurocognitive functions depending on age and sphere of development.
