Electric Cars Disruptive Innovation in the Indian Auto Industry

Abstract The re advent of Electric Cars from 2008 onwards after almost eight decades of neglect is set to cause a fundamental change in the auto industry worldwide, including in India. The traditional value chains in the auto industry is going to be disrupted in a big way affecting the nature of demand for car batteries and components. The major auto manufacturers and their suppliers are apprehensive and only just beginning to make plans to meet the coming change in the market from ICE to Electric Cars.
