Abstract

The search for ways to increase the effectiveness of treatment for patients with this pathology is constantly being made. New technologies of complex, medicinal and physiotherapeutic influence on the inflammatory center of soft facial tissues are developed. The aim of our study was to evaluate the use of EMED SPECTRUM electrosurgical apparatus in a monopolar mode in the complex treatment of purulent inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial area and to provide high aesthetic results at various stages of wound healing. Sixty patients with purulent-inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial area were examined and treated, including 40 men and 20 women. The age of the sick was between 18 and 60 years old. All patients were hospitalized in an in-patient department urgently. Depending on the treatment method, all patients were divided into two groups, the main and the comparative one with 30 people in each. In the first main group of 30 patients, surgical treatment was performed using the electrosurgical apparatus EMED SPECTRUM in monopolar mode. In the postoperative period, a 0.04% solution of decamethoxin was used. In the comparative second group of 30 patients, surgical treatment was performed using the standard method. To evaluate the state of the wound surface, we studied the terms of purifying the wound from purulent-necrotic masses, the time of the appearance of granulation tissue and the beginning of edge epithelization. The wound surface planimetry was performed taking into account the total area of the defect in cm² of the relative wound area, the terms of granulation and epithelization in percentages, which were conducted on 1st, 3st, 7st, 14st, and 21st days of the postoperative period, which corresponds to the terms that characterize the basic stages of regeneration processes. Analyzing the course of local manifestations of inflammation, it is possible to notice the advantage of treatment with an electrosurgical apparatus EMED SPECTRUM and a solution of decamethoxin. The use of the EMED SPECTRUM electrosurgical apparatus and the decametoxin solution is an effective method for treating superficial inflammatory diseases, provides acceleration of wound healing and facilitates the progress of clinical manifestations after surgical intervention.
