Abstract
Nine new organotin (IV) nitrate adducts of SnPh3Cl, SnMe3Cl, SnMe2Cl2 and SnBu2Cl2 have been isolated and characterized by far infrared and m?ssbauer spectroscopies. Within the proposed structures, the nitrate anion behaves as a monodentate, a bidentate, a tridentate or a monochelating ligand. All the structures are discrete and the environments at tin atoms are trigonalbipyramidal with trigonal planar SnR3 moieties in SnR3Cl adducts. Two environment types are present in SnR2Cl2 containing adducts: an octahedral and a trigonalbipyramidal. The interactions between complex-anions and cations are mainly electrostatic.
