Abstract
Purpose. Theoretical and practical rationale for reducing flammability and improving the resistance of building structures through the use of retardant coatings. Method. In carrying out the research, an analytical review of the main groups of protective agents that reduce the flammability of wooden building structures was carried out; their technical characteristics were evaluated. Results. The task of protection is to create a «passive» system of localization of the effects of high temperatures, the elimination or reduction of dangerous factors of high temperature. The practice of using wooden and metal structures shows that they do not always meet the requirements of fire safety and require special fire protection measures. Currently, different methods of protection are used: plastering and stretching of structures; facing decoration materials, tiles, bricks, etc .; application of different screens of non-combustible materials; Impregnation of structures with antipyneums from non-combustible antiseptic materials; application of protective coatings to the surface. To reduce the fire hazards of objects used variety of different means and methods of fire protection, but not all of them are effective and their use is justified. The main criteria for the selection of protective equipment should be technical and economic indicators: the efficiency of protection, not deficiency of components, low cost and the possibility of wide application, reliability and durability, moisture and weather resistance, technological, aesthetic, non-toxicity, etc. An analysis of existing protective equipment showed that not all of them meet the stated requirements and can not always be applied. Thus, constructive solutions are labor-intensive and their cost is up to 30% of the cost of protected designs. Impregnation of structures with a solution of flame retardants can increase the resistance to fire at the stage of fire, and in the fire cell. However, along with the positive qualities, impregnation has significant disadvantages: the use of expensive and very toxic components, the considerable complexity of the work performed and the need for special technological equipment and high qualifications of personnel, high energy consumption, etc. Therefore, in Ukraine and abroad, more and more applications are found in methods of applying to the surface of structures and materials of fire protective coatings that protect them. Scientific novelty. Theoretical foundations have been developed and a practical justification has been given for the effectiveness of the use of flame retardant intumescent non-flammable coatings to reduce the flammability of materials and increase the fire resistance of building structures. Practical meaningfulness. New non-combustible intumescent fire retardant compositions have been developed and tested in production conditions, which allow to transfer combustible materials to the group of slow-burning and to increase the fire resistance of building structures.
