Determining The Perceptions of Teachers on EBA (Educational Informatics Network) Through Metaphors

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of the teachers on EBA (Educational Informatics Network) through metaphors. The study group is constituted by the 74 Geography teachers who attended “Fatih Projesi Ders Akış Tasarımı” in-service training course held in İstanbul between 2016-2017 school year and again 52 teachers from different branches, attended “Fatih Projesi-EBA Seçmeli Ders Çalıştayı” in Balıkesir between 2016-2017 school year, totally 126 teachers. The data of the research has been derived from the teachers by completing by completing “EBA like……….., because……………” sentences. Qualitative research methods were used in data analysis. At the end of the study, 115 different metaphors were determined in 7 different categories about EBA. The categories from which metaphors are generated mostly are respectively; the portal with rich contents (30 metaphors), the portal which supports education (23 metaphors), the portal with useful contents (21 metaphors), the portal where the contents are found difficulty (13 metaphors), the portal which can not be included in any categories (11 metaphors), the portal which should be developed ( 7 metaphors), the portal which have indispensable contents (6 metaphors), and the portal which will develop according to the quantity of given support (4 metaphors). The analyzes of the metaphors which have been constituted according to the categories have been done with content analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods and the suggestions are offered within the context of the evaluation results of the study.
