Abstract

This work summarises both literature and unpublished historical and new data on the mayflies, stoneflies and caddisflies fauna from the Maritsa River Valley in the region of Plovdiv City. The data originates from a period with broad time limits (1930-2017). In total, 40 taxa at species level were recorded. They belong to 16 families and represent, correspondingly, 23.28, 3.67 and 3.49 % of the species of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera currently known from Bulgaria. Among the established taxa, only one (Palingenia longicauda) is Extinct in Bulgaria (EX); one is Regionally Extinct (RE), one is Critically Endangered (CR), one - Potentially threatened and eight - rare or very rare on the territory of Bulgaria. Endemic species within the study area have not been reported.
