Abstract
Fusion welding is a widely used technique to prepare intermetallic joints of similar and dissimilar metals. Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is a popular fusion welding technique. Mechanical properties of a weldment are supposed to be an indicator of weldment quality, in present research the tensile strength of similar and dissimilar weldment of ASME SA 213 GR. T11 and BS 3059:1987 PT 1 ERW 320welded with TIG welding has been investigated. The results revealed that maximum tensile strength of dissimilar joint has been observed when welding current and gas flow rate was 110A and 10 Litre/min respectively and the specimen was preheated at 200° C. The experimental results have been statistically tested by using two way ANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis. The mathematical predictive model has been discussed based on regression analysis.
