V. P. Adrianova-Perets (1888 - 1972) - scientist, researcher of the Ukrainian antiquity: on the 130th anniversary of the birth

Abstract

The article presents the contribution of the prominent Ukrainian literary critic, textologist, folklorist, literary historian, correspondent member of the All-Ukrainian AS V. P. Adrianova-Peretz to the study of the Ukrainian antiquity and the scientist’s participation in the Ukrainian scientific life. The life path of the scientist is considered. An active participation of V. P. Adrianova-Peretz in the work of the Seminar of Russian Philology directed by Professor V. M. Peretz: studying the manuscript and book heritage in Poltava (1910), Zhytomyr (1910), Nizhyn (1914) and Kyiv (1915) is shown. Her participation in the Seminar of Russian Philology contributed to further continuation of an active academic life. Her election in 1914 as a full member of the Society of Ancient Literature proved the recognition of scientific merit of the scholar. It was proved that V. P. Adrianova-Peretz was one of the founders of the Society for the Research of Ukrainian History, Literature and Language in Leningrad. In the context of the research of the Society, she studied the history of the ancient Ukrainian theater and its interconnection with the West European one, collected material on the history of Ukrainian parodies of the eighteenth century, etc. In 1926, for the significant contribution in the field of Ukrainian studies, she was elected to the All-Ukrainian AS. The cooperation of V. P. Adrianovа-Peretz with the Commission of Ancient Ukrainian Writing of the All-Ukrainian AS is covered. She compiled a bibliography of Ukrainian manuscripts and old printed books stored in the archives and libraries of Leningrad; and also made several thousand cards with bibliographic descriptions of the discovered monuments of ancient Ukrainian writing. It is suggested to carry out a detailed research of further participation of V. P. Adrianova-Peretz in Ukrainian studies and scientific life.
