Abstract
Foam firefighting capacity depends on both its resistance to some destroying factors and preserving its insulating property. Nowadays increasing of firefighting equipment using low-expansion foam is observed. The main feature of such foam is a high rate of flow that results in its loss of capacity to resist to thermal and mechanical action. Our investigation considers the influence of 0.25–2.0 màss. % sodium carboxymethyl cellulose salt (Na CMC) on synaeresis and foam thermal stability. The presence of Na CMC in a solution significantly reduces the rate of flow. It should be mentioned that Na CMC can react with the adsorbed layers and due to solvation it keeps a large amount of the solution in the films saving stable foam structure for a long time. The thermal effect on foam containing Na CMC leads to the protective film formation and prevents it from degradation.
