Abstract
A probable mechanism of the water catastrophe on Earth (the Flood) that has taken place about 750 million years ago is proposed, for the first time ever, on the basis of analysis of astrophysical data and data of Earth sciences. The Flood was caused by mantle water fluids and ice particles that had fallen to Earth from the near space.
