Abstract
ABSTRACT - Aims and Objectives1.To identify the clinical indications for Ivabradine use in Ischemic cardiovascular diseases 2.To identify the effectiveness of Ivabradine in the clinical outcome using NYHA guidelines.3.To observe any adverse drug reaction during Ivabradine therapy.4.To assess the quality of life and patient compliance with Ivabradine therapy. Materials and Methods Material Patients attending cardiology dept with history of and diagnosis suggestive of ischemic cardio vascular diseases (ICD). Information were collected through the patients hospital record and interaction through preformed questionnaire Methods Patient with known history of ICD were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Quality of life with Ivabradine is assessed with the help of preformed questionnaire both prospectively(6 months) and retrospectively(1 year) using Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) angina grading scale and New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional classification for heart failure. Ethical clearance obtained from institutional human ethics committee before initiating the work Result Ivabradine use for the indications like angina, heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction and cardiomyopathy was studied. Improvement in the clinical conditions and quality of life (QOL) was observed in the study participants. Conclusion Ivabradine, by selectively lowering heart rate, has significant improvement in quality of life and a safer drug without adverse drug reaction in various ICD.
