HYPOTHYROIDISM PRESENTING AS PSYCHOSIS - A CASE REPORT

Hypothyroidism is an important and potentially reversible cause of organic psychosis. It is important to diagnose it early because in many occasions, thyroxine supplementation alone helps in relief or cure of psychotic symptoms. Others need supplementation of anti-psychotics to facilitate the recovery. A case of hypothyroidism that presented as psychosis and improved with thyroxine supplementation alone is discussed.
