Abstract
True to any profit-generating endeavors, the concept of reducing costs in order to maximize profit has always been there. In the context of islanded microgrids utilizing renewable energy, this comes in the form of reducing fossil fuel consumption, with the added bonus of also reduced CO2 emissions. In the case of microgrids with multiple parallel operated diesel generators, there exists an optimal dispatch for the least amount of diesel consumed at any given loading condition. This paper presents a dispatch optimization algorithm for droop-controlled islanded microgrids in the form of a MINLP.
