Abstract
Shaded pole induction motors (SPIM) are often preferred in small power applications because of their ability to operate from single phase system without any control, simple construction, easy production and low-cost features. These motors are easy to manufacture but the most difficult to analyze mathematically. In this study, motor inductance behavior is deduced to calculate working magnitudes. Inductance values are expressed in terms of rotor position so that they can be used in current and torque calculations. By theoretical analysis of the motor, the voltage and torque equations are derived in detail for the steady-state condition. Then the torque behavior of the motor according to the slip is obtained
