Abstract
The study area is located about 20 km northwest of Yahyalı (Kayseri). The study is based on the examination of the geochemical characteristics of Karamadazı iron deposits. Iron deposit is skarn type deposit which formed along the contacts of Yahyalı Plüton and Akbaş Formation of the Yahyalı Sequence. Mineralization took place in three main phases; the first one being the magnetite mineralization is concurrent with garnet endoskarns and pyroxene-garnet exoskarns. The second phase is the magnetite mineralization in the actinolite-epidote exoskarns. The last phase is sulphide-rich contains magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, mineralization that along E-W trending calcite-quartz rich fractures, intercept the magnetite mineralization. In this study, the polished sections of the ore specimens were examined and the ore paragenesis and structural-textural properties of the deposit were determined. Accordingly, magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite were the main minerals in the paragenesis, whereas hematite was observed less in the paragenesis.
