Abstract

In this study, a hospital security system was developed for newborn infants, using wireless communication technologies and a software. Every year, many newborn babies are either kidnaped or exchanged with one another in hospitals. The ministry of health has launched an application named “Pink Code” so as to prevent these kid of incidents from happining. The safety of newborns depends on attention of hospital staff who are likely to make mistakes, in this application. Developed RFID based security system can aid staff who are responsible for security to alleviate their work load and it also provides babies with much secure environment in hospitals. The developed system uses RFID technology which have been used in allmost every field nowadays. RFID readers and tags which are used with the web based sotfware that works in depently from platform take precautions for the safety of babies, transmitting nacessary information to users. When performing this process, the system uses heat and light sensors on RFID tags which are designed to be wearable by the baby's wrist. Information obtained these sensors is transmitted directly to the RFID reader which sends it into database. The software evaluates this information on database and inform about the condition of the baby. These information can be listed as fallows, whether the signal is recived from the baby's wristlet, whether wristlet is removed from the baby's wrist whether the baby is returned to his/her room, who has given permission by the outhorized person over the system.
