Abstract
A young woman with HIV on ART presented with painful hematochezia and tenesmus. Her CD4 count was 379 cells per ml. On examination she had a hard polypoidal growth in anal canal extending upto distal rectum. Colonoscopy and biopsy of the lesion was done. HPE showed Cloacogenic carcinoma of anal canal. She responded well to radiotherapy. Cloacogenic carcinoma is rare tumour of anal canal and rectum , a variant of squamous cell carcinoma arising from the anal transitional zone, which is a remnant of embryogenic cloacal membrane. It is more common in woman, has good prognosis, responds well to surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
